London 2nd & 3rd April Si Lim Tao seminar with Nino

Learnt in a matter of hours but taking a lifetime to master. Si Lim Tao is the first thing shown to beginners and also something that senior practitioners keep returning to. Students of all backgrounds and all levels welcome.

Looking behind the closed door seminar London 20th & 21st November

Traditionally the 'advanced' sections of the Wing Chun syllabus Biu Jee, Luk Dim Book Gwan (pole) and Baat Jam Dao (knives) were only taught privately to select students behind closed doors.

A rare opportunity to hear from one of the world's leading teachers openly explore these aspects of wing chun. Although this seminar is primarily aimed at the advanced student all our welcome!

The wooden dummy: your training partner Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th April 2010 10am to 4pm. London, UK

The Jong or wooden dummy is a training partner with infinite patience who is always available, always consistent, always gives you honest feedback, but doesn't hit back when you make a mistake.

Some martial artists break planks of wood to develop strength and power but in Wing Chun we use our wooden apparatus more delicately. It may only be a lump of wood, but the dummy is a fantastic aid to solo study when perfecting bodypositioning, angles of entry and footwork. It allows us to fine tune the most sophisticated tool of all - the human body.

For this reason, in Nino Bernardo's training syllabus, students will usually start to learn the first techniques on the dummy once they have grasped the dynamics of the second form Chum Ku. This two-day seminar will aim to give an overview of the dummy form. It is suitable for practitioners of all levels and even beginners will benefit from a taste of the underlying principles of the dummy. All martial artists with an open mind are welcome regardless of background or experience.

The Chum kiu form 21st & 22nd November London, UK

Nino will be covering the second form, Chum Kiu, in fine detail. He has been researching and studying the translation of some of the key words with the help of Chen Ji, a student who also happens to be one of the most qualified people in the world to translate Chinese to English. Ji is by qualification a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and a Member of the International Association of Conference Interpreters. With this recently acquired info, Nino intends to put a lot of the translation in context, highlighting hidden meanings and interpretation of Chum Kiu without diverting from what has been his motto for many years now: looking at the system through the eyes of the mechanic, the architect and the engineer.
